James David Spearman Jr., MD, MBA. is a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction. His practice is focused on hip, knee, and shoulder and elbow injuries or problems, including fracture care.
Dr. Spearman attended Clemson University for his undergraduate education and was a member of the men’s soccer team during his time there. He then obtained an MBA from the College of Charleston. He received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas–Austin. Following residency, he completed a sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction fellowship at Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas.
Dr. Spearman has treated athletes at all levels. He has assisted in team and sideline coverage for many local area high schools, collegiate athletics with the University of Texas–Austin, Clemson University, and North Greenville University, and professional athletics with Austin Bold FC, Greenville Drive, and the Colorado Rockies. He is currently one of the team physicians for professional soccer teams Greenville Triumph SC and Greenville Liberty.
Dr. Spearman is teaching faculty for Greenville's orthopedic surgery residency program, Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, and faculty for Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas Shoulder Reconstruction and Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Dr. Spearman enjoys meeting new patients and developing a treatment plan that will improve their symptoms and help them achieve their goals.
